Jorge is a Mexican and a Peruvian citizen, born in Lima, Peru, son of a Canadian citizen who immigrated to Peru. His basic education was in the British School in Lima. He later obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad de Lima and a MBA in Great Britain. He is married to Ada, who is a Chef and a Painter, and has 3 children, Arturo, 36, who is currently an executive at Microsoft; Cinthia, 32, who is an independent Communication/Graphic Designer, graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York and with a Masters in Design Management from the Pratt Institute in New York; and Andres, 28, who graduated in Economics and Political Sciences in the University of New York (NYU), holds a Master degree from the Interactive Telecommunications program in NYU and works as Project Manager supporting Technology start-ups.
Effective January 2016 Jorge became Senior Vice President – Laureate Network Office (LNO), to lead the development and expansion of the Category Management model.
Previously, during most of 2015 Jorge was Executive Vice President (EVP), LNO, leading the Student Success pillar. Before he was EVP Laureate Latin America, since April 2012, Business Development and Best Practices dissemination and, CEO Laureate Mexico/Central America for the August 2006-March 2012 period.
Previously Jorge had spent 25 years in the Procter and Gamble Company, during 1981-2006, where he held a variety of assignments in Sales, Marketing, Logistics and General Management in 5 different countries including Peru, USA, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico. In his last 10 years in P&G he was President of P&G Colombia during 1997-2000 and President of P&G Mexico/Central America during 2000-2006.
This extensive experience provided Jorge with solid knowledge and skills in the areas of Strategy Development and Planning, Consumer Marketing, Commercial Operations and Organizational Development, with a strong international and culturally diverse perspective.
This experience included assignments across regions and countries in both companies, including roles such as Country Marketing, Sales, Commercial Director and CEO / General Manager / Regional VP.
Jorge also has broad experience in the external relations front dealing with governments and other key external stakeholders at the highest level, with frequent participation in conferences and panels. His track record has been consistent both at P&G and Laureate, showing sustained superior business, organizational and stewardship/governance results, ultimately being recognized as an outstanding, multicultural, adaptable, well balanced leader with strong strategic, operational, collaboration and people leadership skills with a diverse international experience.
Jorge also has experience as member of the Board of for profit and non- for profit organizations and is founder & partner of businesses in the Restaurant, Pet Care and Technology sectors.
